Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Firefighting Foam Engineer to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in the development, testing, and optimization of firefighting foam products, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in firefighting foam formulation, testing, or application and a strong understanding of foam chemistry, performance characteristics, and environmental impact considerations.
Key Responsibilities
• Product Development & Optimization
• Develop and improve firefighting foam formulations to enhance performance and environmental sustainability.
• Evaluate raw materials and surfactants to optimize foam expansion, drain time, and suppression effectiveness.
• Conduct performance testing to ensure compliance with UL, NFPA, ICAO, and MIL-SPEC standards.
• Regulatory Compliance & Quality Control
• Ensure all foam products comply with industry regulations, environmental guidelines, and customer specifications.
• Work closely with regulatory agencies and certification bodies to maintain approvals and listings.
• Collaborate with quality control teams to monitor production consistency and troubleshoot any formulation issues.
• Testing & Field Support
• Oversee foam testing procedures in laboratory and field environments.
• Provide technical support to customers, distributors, and sales teams regarding foam applications and compatibility.
• Assist in conducting live fire tests and demonstrations for customers and regulatory agencies.
• Collaboration & Innovation
• Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and sales teams to develop new foam products and improve existing solutions.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in fire suppression.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and sustainability improvements in foam technology.
Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in firefighting foam development, testing, or application.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of foam chemistry, surfactants, and fire suppression mechanisms.
• Familiarity with UL 162, NFPA 11, ICAO, and MIL-SPEC foam performance requirements.
• Experience with fluorine-free foam development and environmental regulations (PFAS restrictions, biodegradability).
• Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to conduct hands-on lab and field testing.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Preferred:
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of fire testing methods and equipment.
• Familiarity with fire protection systems and foam proportioning equipment.
