Summary:
The Patient Services Representative I is responsible for providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for patients. This role includes patient registration, appointment scheduling, handling inquiries, verifying insurance information, and collecting payments. The representative ensures a positive patient experience while adhering to HIPAA guidelines and supporting the mission and values.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Interaction & Customer Service
- Greet and register patients in a warm and professional manner.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring high-level customer service.
- Handle incoming patient calls, schedule and reschedule appointments, and address patient inquiries.
- Provide courteous and responsive communication to patient concerns or complaints, ensuring appropriate resolutions.
Administrative & Clerical Responsibilities
- Accurately collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility for various payers, including commercial insurers, Medicaid, and Medicare.
- Obtain necessary prior authorizations, referrals, and documentation required by insurance carriers.
- Conduct appointment reminder calls and assist with next-day preparation of patient charts.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Financial & Payment Responsibilities
- Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of service.
- Educate patients on billing processes, financial responsibilities, and out-of-pocket costs.
- Establish and manage payment plans for outstanding balances and future services.
- Refer patients to financial counselors and screen for charity programs when applicable.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
