Head Boys Basketball Coach

TITLE OF POSITION: HEAD BOYS BASKETBALL COACH

SALARY: As outlined in Article X, Supplemental Contracts in Buckeye Local Classroom Teachers’

Association Negotiated Agreement

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess in depth, comprehensive knowledge of basketball and its rules.

Must have 3 or more years varsity experience in playing and/or teaching the sport.

Head-coaching experience is preferred but not required.

Exhibit strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Possess valid Pupil Activity, Fundamentals in Coaching certificate, and BCI/FBI background check

along with current certification in the following: CPR, First Aid, Concussion, and Cardiac Arrest and

anything else required by ODE.

DUTIES:

Direct and organize basketball programs for varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams.

Oversees youth programs within the district.

Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment,

and techniques of the sport.

Manage and instruct team members to motivate players on and off the court.

Analyze team strengths and weaknesses while instituting game strategies.

Maintain records regarding team performances.

Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team

development.

Observes players during competition and practice to determine the needs for individual or team

improvement.

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and always provides proper supervision of

athletes.

Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met

and encourages student athletes to maintain a high academic standard.

Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the athletic performance of the student

Any other duties as assigned by Superintendent or Superintendent’s Designee.
