The Buckeye Ranch is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to join our Somali Outreach program. The Somali Outreach Mental Health Specialist will provide Outreach to the Somali Community to help educate families and the larger community about mental health as it applies to current community issues, facilitate educational forums and groups to address acculturation and cultural diversity, and link to appropriate services. Provide support and education to our partner schools while conducting youth groups and individual sessions with identified clients. In addition, this role will provide direct service, coordination, and linkage to resources for identified Buckeye Ranch clients and their families.

What you'll do:
- Complete referrals for programming and assist families in completing regular diagnostic assessments as needed.
- Participate as an actively contributing member of treatment teams, departmental committees, large group supervision, and other Ranch and external working groups as assigned or appropriate.
- Maintains regular contact with individuals, families, and other treatment providers. Appointments must be made at times that families can participate; evening work is expected.
- Provides support and education to refugee clients and families during the resettlement process while also evaluating the families current support system.
- Assist the client and family in learning how to cope with current circumstances, cultural adjustment or assimilation, or mental health needs.
- Help families link with community Refugee resources and programs that are tailored to the Refugee population with the goal of preserving the family.
- Provide support to our partner schools, (lunch bunch groups, peer groups, academics assistance) classroom assistance.
- Organize recreational activities for summer and school breaks.
- Intervene on the behalf of the client and family as they navigate through agencies and systems.
- Serving as the primary point of communication to families, and internal and external clients.
- Coordinate workshops, presentations, and other regularly scheduled prevention activities.

Qualifications
Who you are:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field.
- You have an active driver’s license and proof of car insurance.
- You are fluent in Somali and/or Arabic, as well as English.
- You preferably have two years of previous experience as a Mental Health Specialist, Behavior Aide, Counselor, Therapist, or Social Worker
- QMHS required
- You are a Licensed Social Worker or license eligibility preferred
