POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide direct supervision to a group of children at day camp. Provide quality experience to children and parents focused around the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Supervise a group of children and ensure all children are comfortable, safe and feel included.
- Plan, lead and participate in a range of activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely program records including but not limited to Summer Food Program (SFP) documentation, attendance sheets, sign-in/sign-out records and accident/incident reports.
- Adhere to program standards including, but not limited to safety and cleanliness.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- Follow all applicable policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff. Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
- Serve as a positive role model for youth.
Child Protection Responsibilities:
- Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
- Participates in required abuse risk management training.
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age and possess a high school diploma/GED; some college preferred.
- Previous demonstrated experience working with children and diverse populations.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, camping, music, skits, sports, aquatics, and/or recreational games.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire.
