Director of Accounting - SEC Reporting
Location: Deerfield, IL (3 days in office, 2 days working from home)

Position Summary: The Director of Accounting - SEC Reporting will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of SEC reporting and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. This role will involve preparation and filing of quarterly and annual reports (Forms 10-Q, 10-K), as well as supporting the company’s financial disclosures in accordance with SEC guidelines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SEC reporting, a strong background in accounting, and proven leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other related filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SEC regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of footnotes, MD&A, and financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidelines.
- Manage the quarterly and annual reporting process and ensure timely, accurate filing with the SEC.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Treasury, Tax, and Internal Audit to ensure proper disclosure of financial information.
- Review and approve external audit schedules, assisting with the year-end audit process.
- Stay up to date on changes to SEC rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with all relevant reporting requirements.
- Manage the accounting team responsible for SEC reporting, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
- Work with external auditors to facilitate the audit process and resolve any issues or concerns.
- Lead the preparation of earnings releases, investor relations presentations, and other external communications.
- Coordinate with the internal control and financial reporting teams to ensure robust internal controls are in place.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SEC reporting process.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Licensing: CPA certification required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience with at least 5 years in management.
- Big 4 public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations.
- Proven track record in preparing SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other forms).
- Strong leadership, management, and team development experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s, MBA, or similar) in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience working within a large, complex corporate environment, ideally within a Fortune 500 company.
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls.
Salary : $170,000 - $195,000
