Excellent, long-term position for an experienced sheetrocker/ painter with finish carpentry experience. We are a large retirement community serving the Houston area, taking care of the elderly. If you have remodel experience that would be a plus. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position with available benefits. You will be part of an exemplary maintenance team doing make ready’s and remodels. This is a permanent position with a focus on sheetrock and painting. This should include hanging, taping and texturing to a high skill level. In addition, you should be able to do basic carpentry skills like baseboard and crown mold installation. Pay will be determined by your experience and skillset. Hours are day shift with an occasional weekend rotation.
Position Summary:
The Painter performs routine, specialized painting, and related tasks to maintain the condition and appearance of Buckingham’s building and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares various surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, burning, sanding, sandblasting, or other means necessary.
- Mixes, matches, and blends various paints, enamels, lacquers, varnishes, stains, and special protective coatings to achieve desired color, consistency, and drying properties.
- Keeps up general maintenance by use of caulks, putties, cements to plaster holes and cracks.
- Erect scaffolding, ladders, and lifts.
- Knowledge of safety procedures for working on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
- Determines quantities and requests supplies orally or in writing.
- Cleans and stores tools and equipment as well as the work site.
- Has considerable knowledge of OSHA standards for chemical use.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and one year of experience at a level equivalent to journeyman painter or similar work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
