Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Buckley Fence is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our team! The ideal candidate has passion, talent, and experience designing mechanical products from scratch. You will be working on original designs, so 5 years of experience and strong CAD skills and digital filing skills are key. You will be working on quite a variety of products, including shipping solutions, steel fencing parts, and assemblies in various technologies and materials as seen below.

Responsibilities:

• Working on a team to design and create new mechanical products from scratch.
• Managing detail updates and supplier communication on over 1000 items.
• System management of data and understanding of an engineering change system and fully compliant documentation.
• Understanding of ISO standards and ability to implement.
• Secure database management and backup standards.
• Good computer troubleshooting skills.
• Willing to help others with digital problem solving.
• Leading on corrective action with supply issues.
• Use of FEA as well as animation to communicate ideas and assure structural soundness.
• Ability to write product and process specifications and ability to research techniques that may be useful.
• Willingness and ability to be multi-functional. That includes design, quality control planning, supplier communication and documentation, cooperative problem solving, and communication of ideas.
• Understanding of geometric form control, datum systems and efficient dimensioning schemes to assure accuracy, repeatability and easy problem solving.
• Tolerance stacks
• Expect to work on site at least 4 days a week. I can see remote work being efficient when you want to concentrate without interruption, but in-person corroboration is irreplaceable in the creation phase.
• Understand what needs to be tested and ability to conceive and execute testing systems.
• Cooperate with suppliers to set up testing and monitoring of processes.
• Lead quality control efforts.

• Requirements
• Mechanical Engineering degree
• Excellent CAD skills for original design work
• 5 years minimum of mechanical product design
• Excellent conscientiousness, organization, and attention to detail
• Strong spatial reasoning skills
• Good mathematics and spreadsheet skills
• Good computer skills
• Good verbal and written communication
• Driven to put products into the world that are useful, efficient, durable, and strong.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and drive to become chief engineer is a plus!
• Specific technologies that you will engaged in will include: Roll forming of sheet metal, conventional metal stamping, plastic injection molding, rubber molding, aluminum and zinc die casting, screw machining, CNC machining, various plating and coating technologies including electrocoat, powder coating, zinc plating, galvanizing, etc..
