What are the responsibilities and job description for the Humane Law Enforcement Coordinator position at BUCKS COUNTY SPCA?
The Humane Law Enforcement (HLE) Coordinator is responsible for assisting our humane officers with all aspects of cruelty investigations, including organizing case work, research, and handling of evidence (including animals) as instructed. They provide friendly customer service while taking reports of animal cruelty from the public and other agencies. HLE Coordinator also performs basic office administration and housekeeping. They play an important role on a hard-working team that is dedicated to upholding the mission of the Bucks County SPCA. The position is based at the Lahaska shelter. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist humane officers with all record-keeping and daily office duties
- Accept and document all reports of animal cruelty from the public and other law enforcement agencies
- Collaborate with county, municipal, and other law enforcement agencies
- Understand and articulate Pennsylvania’s Animal Cruelty Laws (after training)
- Provide excellent customer service through courteous, prompt, helpful service to shelter visitors, volunteers, and staff
- Understand and articulate Bucks County SPCA policies in a positive and effective manner
- Provide basic office support such as answering and directing phone calls, filing, and data entry
- Maintain equipment and bring to attention of management equipment that needs repair
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Will be required to successfully complete Pennsylvania Humane Officer Training within 18 months and participate in on the job training to become a sworn Humane Society Police Officer
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
- Experience with law enforcement and/or animal care preferred
- Mid-level computer skills and use of standard office equipment
- Ability to take direction and work positively in a team environment
- Physical requirements include ability to talk, hear, and see, as well as sit, stand, walk, regularly lift and move up to 60 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
