POSITION SUMMARY:
The Billing Manager manages the Billing Office by overseeing and performing responsibilities related to processing insurance claims for patients, billing patients for balances due, processing accounts receivable, managing collections and payment arrangements, and handling financial statement reporting, according to Health Center practices and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Designs, implements and monitors policies and procedures for the Billing Office, including recording and reporting requirements.
2. Oversees the processing of patient insurance claims, billing patients for balances due, and collection of accounts; works with insurance carriers to resolve issues.
3. Responsible for the oversite of outsourced Certified Coder.
4. Responsible for oversight of outsourced provider’s insurance credentialing, re-credentialing, enrollment and disenrollment and CAQH data updates.
5. Reviews accounts receivable on a daily basis to ensure timely reimbursement from all carriers.
6. Assists employees with daily problem resolution.
7. Audits PAR’s productivity and efficiencies
8. Tracks data and prepares reports for the CFO as required.
9. Performs daily office work including typing letters and memos, faxing, filing, copying, making and receiving telephone calls, etc.
10. Fills in as back up for all billing staff positions as needed, so claim and payment processing is not interrupted during billing staff PTO .
11. Performs the usual duties of a manager, including hiring, scheduling, supervising, delegating, training, developing and evaluating subordinate staff; resolves human resource issues; maximizes employee performance and morale; keeps staff informed on goals, expectations and issues.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May provide backup for other Health Center functions as needed.
2. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:
- At least five years of experience in a Business Office, including bookkeeping or accounting, required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products required; knowledge and experience with Peachtree Accounting software preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Ability to communicate and present information.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply clinic policies and procedures.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:
- High School diploma or equivalent with emphasis on office and business skills including, bookkeeping/accounting, keyboarding, filing, and multi-tasking, required.
- A two-year Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or the equivalent in education and experience, is preferred.
