What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler position at Bucksport Regional Health Center?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Scheduler performs scheduling duties for assigned doctors and nurse practitioners, along with a variety of other related duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedules patient appointments for assigned doctors and nurse practitioners using computer system; reschedules appointments as needed.
- Answers the telephone for the department, directs calls, and takes messages as appropriate.
- Provides basic information and answers questions as appropriate.
- Prepares and mails reminder letters two weeks in advance of annual physical appointments.
- Communicates with all patients, staff and visitors professionally and efficiently.
- Assists clinical staff with clerical tasks, such as copying, filing, faxing, mailing, etc.
- Mails information to new and existing patients.
- Prepares monthly reports of walk-ins, no shows, etc. as requested.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May retrieve patient messages from the portal and disseminate them to the proper person for resolution.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:
Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:
- At least one year of experience performing clerical or administrative work in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office software products preferred.
- Ability to communicate and present information.
Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:
- High School diploma or equivalent with emphasis on office and business skills including, keyboarding, filing, and multi-tasking, required.
