SUMMARY
This position is responsible for carrying out all Company payroll preparation and processing, tax reporting, commission calculations, compliance, and payroll systems maintenance. The payroll lead oversees the activities of all employees within the payroll department and works with Company managers to ensure accurate payroll reporting.
This position is hybrid, 3 days in office 2 days remote, after completing a successful 30 day probationary period in office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Processes disbursement of multi locations payrolls, including overseeing elected deductions and all standard deductions consistent with local, state and federal wage and hour laws
- Critically reviews: current payroll, benefits changes, and tax procedures
- Recommends and implements changes leading to best-practice operations
- Processes paychecks for all employees including: owners, executive staff, and management staff
- Audits W-4s, payroll balance sheets, and YTD earnings
- Balance the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies
- Communicates actively with Chief Accountant, Operations, Human Resources, and Controllers to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing
- Partner with Human Resources to address company benefits and payroll concerns
- Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and Vacation time (PTO).
- Determines payroll liabilities by applying the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, employers social security, unemployment and workers compensation (L&I) payments
- Ensures preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, semimonthly, monthly, quarterly, W-2s, ACA and year-end reports for compliance of payroll (Gross payroll, hours worked, PTO, tax deductions, benefit deduction, nontax wages, etc.)
- Ensure payroll teams communicate timely with management and employees on all concerns relating to employees pay or payroll system access.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Requirement: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Certified Payroll Processor Certification (CPP)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions of payroll program, and procedure documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as wage and hours laws for local, state and federal agencies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
