Job Duties
- Responsible for the packaging operations of the facility including pouching, pre-roll manufacturing and packaging, case packing, and all associated label printing and application
- Organize weekly and daily work schedules for the packaging department
- Plan production schedules which include scheduling staff and all necessary parts and products required for each assembly
- Deliver on departmental goals related to production, reducing material waste, accurate record keeping, improved first pass quality, and maximizing labor productivity
- Ensure the packaging operations are in compliance with all local and state laws, as well as the Company's operational standards
- Ensure workstations and equipment throughout the packaging department are clean and organized
- Audit in real-time the processes, equipment efficiency, and label data, and direct solution for correcting errors
- Ensure a safe work environment by emphasizing safety training, safe actions, and providing proper PPE. The manager maintains training records and retrains when required by compliance standards.
- Responsible for the recruitment and hiring of the staff working your shift
- Provide employees with clear directions and expectations, then evaluate the performance and activity of team members during each assembly while providing appropriate feedback to maintain and improve output
- Provide regular hands-on coaching and training, both one-on-one and in groups, and provide regular follow-up to ensure the staff is aware of their roles and performance goals of the department.
- Post frequently to the department's Teams channels to communicate schedule, goals, output, program changes, and any other information that affects the site, department, and workday.
- Approve and submit employee timecards after confirming their accuracy
- Report on the performance of the shift which includes output as well as trends and variances discovered for every batch of cannabis inventory
- Develop and initiate corrective action plans for minimizing variances and waste as well as for achieving productivity improvements
- Proactively review the established processes, identify improvement opportunities, make recommendations, and lead change initiatives.
- Maintain packaging department KPIs; set and enforce quotas, quality control, and safety expectations for the packaging and labeling team
- Serve as a leader and champion of Bud's values in the Packaging operations
- Learn and operate software used for the company's Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Superior verbal and written communication and presentation skills with proficiency of grammar and the ability to adapt tone/style to a variety of audiences
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, presentation, and project management skills
- Ability to classify and triage issues and take appropriate action to resolve issues in self-sufficient manner

- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related field experience
- 4 years of management experience
- 5 years of production or manufacturing experience, preferably with 2 years in cannabis industry
- Must have a solid understanding of the cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further understanding and knowledge of the industry, regulations, market trends and competition
- Experience with mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience with MES systems
- Proven track record of managing the scope of operations in a complex and highly regulated business environment
- Cannabis product knowledge strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of Metrc strongly preferred
- 2 years working with 6 sigma methodology or Black/Green Belt certification strongly preferred
- Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to work a fully flexible schedule including nights and weekends if necessary
- Extensive use of hands, including repetitive movements
- Must pass all required background checks
- Must have a reliable vehicle
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
- Must possess valid driver's license
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must be approved by Cannabis Control Commission to work in the cannabis industry
