What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at Buddy?
Buddy is hiring! If you don't already know us, we are an award-winning, cozy, neighborhood wine bar in the Mission District with a full kitchen. We are known for minimal intervention wines, low ABV cocktails and delicious food. And perhaps most importantly, good vibes. Currently we are seeking a full and/or part-time line cook to join our small, but mighty team. Led by Chef Christopher Mendoza, our small to less small plates menu reflects California seasonality and sensibility with Mediterranean and Asian touches.
Our smallish size and open kitchen evokes classic, nostalgic vibes and invites warmth and conviviality. Our intimate design encourages a culture of camaraderie, collaboration and hospitality amongst all team members, and most importantly, our guests. Line cooks are expected to engage with the dining public. And all team members are required to cross train for multiple stations in order to maximize efficiency and versatility. A typical shift begins at 3:00PM and lasts around seven to eight hours, with some variance depending on day of the week and special events.
Our team building goals include doing our best to provide employees a healthy, rewarding and sustainable workplace. From a compensation perspective, all hourly employees earn $20 an hour, and receive an equal share of the tip pool based on hours worked, regardless of position. We apply a 20% service charge to all checks and also accept additional gratuities. Total, the pay averages around $40-$45 an hour before taxes. In order to help support our employees well-being, health insurance is offered for full-time employees at a 50% contribution rate. And a complimentary staff meal is offered every service.
Please email your resume to nora@buddythebar.com and we will set up an interview.
