What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling position at BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY?
Buena Vista University invites applications for adjunct faculty positions for the CACREP-accredited digitally delivered Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program, beginning June 2025.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Teach a course(s) in an online format (i.e., asynchronous and synchronous instructional) focused on foundations in clinical mental health counseling, counseling theories, human development, or other core courses important to counseling practice.
- Willingness to teach in-person courses at the four-day clinical residency on the Storm Lake (Iowa) Campus.
- Online teaching includes engaging students during the week, answering emails in a timely manner, guiding live synchronous discussion and group work, and guiding asynchronous discussions.
- Develop and prepare teaching materials (ability to organize, analyze, and present knowledge or materials) to respond to student needs.
- Adhere to all ethical standards, state laws, and international regulations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Manage course content on Canvas course website.
- Respond promptly to student questions or concerns.
- Compile, administer, and grade written assignments, projects, and examinations through Canvas, Tevera, and other software that supports digital learning.
- Remain current with new trends and developments in the field of clinical mental health counseling and related ethics and legal issues.
- Act in a way that embodies the mission, vision, and values of Buena Vista University and the CMHC program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctorate Degree in Counselor Education and Supervision, CACREP Accredited
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in clinical skill development and gatekeeping in the field of Counseling
- College level, online teaching experience required with strong preference for those that have taught CMHC courses.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.
- Active Licensed Professional Counselor required.
