Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and efficient Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in operating a variety of construction equipment, including track loaders, dozers, excavators, rubber tire backhoes, skid loaders, and wheel loaders. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, capable of working independently, and will have a strong understanding of the construction process, from digging and backfilling foundations to fine grading, land clearing, and utility installation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment including track loaders, dozers, excavators, rubber tire backhoes, skid loaders, and wheel loaders efficiently and safely.
- Dig, backfill, and grade foundations with precision to meet project specifications.
- Conduct land clearing and excavation work, ensuring proper site preparation for construction.
- Install and maintain utility services, including water, sewer, and stormwater management systems.
- Assist with fine grading and setting grades according to site plans and engineering specifications.
- Review and interpret site plans and drawings to ensure proper layout of work.
- Assist with the laying out and installation of utility lines, infrastructure, and other site structures.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, including daily inspections and reporting any mechanical issues.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Maintain a high level of safety on site, adhering to all company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Operate equipment to clear debris and perform other site preparation tasks as needed.
- Assist in other related duties as required to keep projects on track.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of [X] years of experience operating heavy equipment (track loaders, dozers, excavators, rubber tire backhoes, skid loaders, wheel loaders).
- Proven experience in excavation, grading, backfilling, land clearing, and utility installations.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and specifications.

- Strong ability to set and assist with setting grades.
- Self-sufficient and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently, with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with team members, supervisors, and other construction professionals.
- Valid driver’s license and any relevant certifications for operating heavy equipment.
- A strong work ethic and a focus on quality and productivity.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
