Overview
The purpose of this position is to promote and monitor public and environmental health programs and contracts; to promote community health and wellness; to provide environmental education, consultation and technical assistance; and to abide by and enforce all applicable federal, state, and local ordinances, policies, and other regulations related to environmental, public health, and safety in Buffalo County.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health or related degree in physical, chemical, or biological sciences.
- Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian licensure and one to five years' experience working in a community environmental health program is preferred. If not currently licensed, must obtain licensure within three years of placement in the position and maintain the ongoing licensure.
- Knowledge of environmental and public health principles and practices.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to write inspection findings in a legible and grammatically correct manner.
- Ability to work independently.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
