Job Purpose:
The EHS & Quality Manager is responsible for leading the environmental health and safety efforts for the organization while partnering with the members of the senior management team to gain an understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives. The EHS & Quality manager will maintain a highly visible and accessible presence within the production and warehouse departments. Additionally, the EHS & Quality Manager will oversee product quality and material traceability processes. This role will also lead in developing and executing organizational wide training for safety and manufactured product quality assurance objectives.
Primary work responsibilities of the EHS & Quality Manager:
- Plan and implement EHS safety objectives and effectiveness for the organization.
- Maintains the facility training calendar and ensures training records are maintained per OSHA requirements. Facilitates applicable internal facility safety training using appropriate training materials (hands-outs, props, etc.) as scheduled.
- Facilitate implementation of safe work techniques, effective safety methods and processes, evaluating performance management, training and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct behavior-based safety observations and train other employees and managers in this skill to ensure that safety and operations integrity is demonstrated.
- Works directly with plant leadership to ensure facility monthly safety inspections are being completed. Makes recommendations to remedy noted deficiencies.
- Provides internal support for workers’ compensation cases. Acts as facility safety contact for workers’ compensation claims questions, interfaces with insurance adjusters, medical professionals and injured workers.
- Provides hands-on guidance to facility managers & supervisors regarding incident reporting/investigation program to ensure company standards and process are met.
- Promotes a positive safety culture by developing and creating documents in Microsoft word, excel, power point to support positive employee communications & data delivery such as posters, mailings, and news regarding safety.
- Team with line managers to lead plant wide safety initiatives.
- Serve as the lead for plant safety committee meetings and activities.
- Facilitate new hire safety on-boarding for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Develops and maintains product quality training tools and processes.
- Overseas material traceability materials and processes.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in occupational safety, science, engineering or related discipline from a four year-college or university.
- 3-5 years of occupational safety experience; primarily, in manufacturing.
- Solid working knowledge of EPA & OSHA standards, accident investigations, root cause analysis and lock-out tag-Out procedures.
- Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Office Suites.
