- Works directly with students, individually or in small groups, on academic, behavioral, physical, and social-emotional skills.
- Assists with implementing students’ individual education plan (IEP) goals/objectives.
- Assists with implementing positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS). Assists with responses to student behavior in accordance with District policies and procedures.
- Collaborates and communicates with teachers to support instruction and IEP goals/objectives.
- Supervises students in individual, small group, and large groups settings.
- May provide assistance and support to students in accomplishing activities of daily living; including, but not limited to: eating, toileting, grooming, dressing, bathing, transferring, mobility and positioning.
- Provide assistance and support in adapting curriculum to the instructional needs of each student.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a positive learning environment. Promotes inclusion and social interaction among all students.
- Assist in collecting data related to students’ individual education plans.
- Attends meetings and training as assigned which may include CPI and/or Ukeru training.
- May provide support for other ESP positions.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Complete Personal Care Assistance Training prior to working with students.
- Ability to pass Paraeducator Assessment (may be substituted with completion of two years of college/AA degree or three years of experience as ESP with completion of required professional development).
- Previous experience in school/students preferred.
- Ability to relate to students and staff and maintain a positive learning and working environment.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
- Intermediate internet knowledge.
- Intermediate reading and writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio and percent.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Organizational and time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Operates office equipment including computer, phone system, laminator, copier, scanner and calculator.

Assists the classroom and special education teacher, under the direction of a licensed teacher, by working directly and indirectly with students with disabilities to maximize their success. Supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and physical development. Provides direct student support that aligns with students’ individual education plan.
