Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, with a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate billing processes, maintaining patient accounts, and facilitating smooth transactions within our medical office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Reviews, researches and resolves all rejected claims and claim balances on assigned A/R through the use of workqueues.
· Records objective, professional, thorough and comprehensible notes to account folders and/or system software.
· Records problem accounts on specific payer issues log and uses proper follow-up procedures for resolution. Contacts insurance companies when required and appropriate to secure payment on previously billed accounts.
· Promptly contacts physician’s office for clarification when needed. If proper insurance information is lacking, utilizes on-line verification tools when available, or contacts patient directly.
· Liaison to the physician/provider along with Specialty’s CBO Coder. In collaboration with coder coordinates meetings with physicians to review charges, denials and to educate regarding reimbursement issues/opportunities and coding changes, as necessary.
· Provides and/or assists in the training CBO office personnel, as necessary.
· Reviews all new insurance updates and disperses to proper providers/physicians/office staff.
· Attends reimbursement seminars and department meetings, as required.
· Receives and answers inquiries from internal staff, third party payers and/or patients regarding charges and/or billing discrepancies.
· Sends proper forms to other departments requesting billing information and ensures prompt follow-up.
· Informs supervisor of problem accounts and problem areas that affect daily operations and procedures.
· Answers phone promptly and courteously and relay messages to other staff members as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $19.01 - $28.52 per hour
