Currently we are seeking a Full Time RN to join the Group in our Oncology office in Williamsville.
No Holidays and No Weekends
Schedule: 4 days, Monday - Thursday, 6:45am - 4:30pm
The RN position is a very important part of Buffalo Medical Group. Our RNs are expected to maintain the highest level of customer service and professionalism and we ask that you are always courteous, professional and enthusiastic with all coworkers and patients.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepares and handles chemotherapy medication in accordance with regulations and administers to patients accordingly.
- Assessment, interpretation and documentation of a patients physical status and lab values prior to receiving chemotherapy.
- Knowledge , understanding and interpretation of chemotherapy protocols.
- Reviewing and interpretation of chemotherapy orders.
- Reviewing, interpretation and administering chemotherapy research protocols in accordance with regulations.
- Collection of diagnostic specimens and coding of specimens for laboratory reimbursement.
- Assist with bone marrow biopsies.
- Ambulatory pumps – mixing, setting up, administering, instructing patient and maintaining.
- Provides and documents education to patient before, during and after chemotherapy, including management of side effects.
- Triage phone calls and coordinate care accordingly. Documents all phone communications, pharmacy calls, nursing procedures, level of patient understanding and all referrals to outside agencies.
- Communicates to all members of health care team regarding patient condition, response to therapy, clinical progress or regress and outcomes.
- Miscellaneous tasks: a. maintaining stock medications/ supplies b. clean up c. preparation time. d. oxygen ordering / inventory
- Complies with all regulatory, safety, professional, and Buffalo Medical Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to preparation and reconstitution of chemotherapy drugs.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-services.
- Chart preparation – medication orders in place.
- Responding to emergent situations / maintaining crash cart.
- Complies with BMG Corporate compliance Policy and HIPAA regulations.
- Will participate in worksite safety training programs.
- Will comply with all Group policies and procedures including mandatory annual in-services.
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Active New York State License
- Experience with an EMR
