What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infrastructure Planner position at Buffalo Trace Area Development District?
The Buffalo Trace Area Development District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Infrastructure Planner :
- The Infrastructure Planner works with local officials, water and sewer utilities, regional Water Management Council, and the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, for undertaking projects and programs in the Planning and Development Department, providing technical and management assistance to local utilities, governments, and agencies under the direction of the Community Development Director.
- Daily work activities may include, but are not limited to, general project management, planning, grant writing, reporting, financial oversight, project coordination, and project administration.
- The Infrastructure Planner will be required to perform responsibilities of water and wastewater planning, with long-range planning for potable water, wastewater, and stormwater.
- The Planner will be required to carry out the duties established by the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority, as well as help the region meet goals and objectives of the Council.
- Activities include planning, grant writing, administration, coordination, and collaboration. Other activities include following an annual work plan, maintaining the water / sewer portal with system and project profiles, reporting, and other related tasks associated with the position.
- The Planner may also work with other projects as deemed necessary in the Planning and Development Department. These projects may include Community Facilities, Emergency Services, Agricultural grants, and others.
- Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate ability with project administration, as they will be responsible for project oversight, collaboration and coordination of project stakeholders, budgeting and financial accountability of projects, progress reporting, records and file retention, and other such duties necessary to administer projects.
- Candidates must be able to work independently, have excellent verbal and communication skills, maintain good working relationships with utilities, funding agencies and project partners, possess good writing skills, be detail oriented and organized, be personable, and willing to learn new duties as needed. Candidates must be able to multi-task and handle various projects simultaneously.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or similar field.
- GIS experience is a bonus, as well as experience with mapping, ARC GIS, and other such software.
- GIS ability is not mandatory to apply.

Salary : $38,000 - $42,000
