JOB TITLE: Recovery Navigator SCHEDULE: 1st or 2nd Shift including weekends / holidays

Buffalo Valley is looking for individuals in long-term recovery from substance use to be a Recovery Navigators ("Navigators"). The Buffalo Valley Recovery Navigators are responsible for meeting patients in the hospital when they present due to an overdose, are experiencing active withdrawal, or present with a primary substance use disorder, to connect them with treatment and recovery resources. The goal of this program is to break the cycle of overdose and increase the number of individuals who are connected with treatment and recovery services by meeting patients in the emergency department and by sharing their lived experience. Using their personal lived experience of addiction and recovery and Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) training, BVI Recovery Navigators need to be incredibly effective at connecting with the patients they meet and successful in ultimately placing the person in treatment for substance use disorder
QUALIFICATIONS
- Peer Recovery Specialist Certificate required and must maintain certification in accordance with state standards or eligible to immediately train to receive their CPRS within 2 months
- Must attend mandatory training sessions and/or meetings as defined
- Pass Background Check and Drug Screen, required
- Must have strong computer skills with ability to type 30 wpm
- Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills with paperwork
- Keeps a current CPR and First Aid certifications, required
- Valid TN D.L. with "F" endorsement required; can be obtained once hired
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from 4-year college or university, LADAC, or A&D Certification, preferred but not required
- One-year minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; if in recovery, must be in recovery from substance abuse for a period of no less than 2 years
- High School Diploma or GED
