Housekeeping Aide

GENERAL SUMMARY:

A housekeeping aide enables the facility to have a clean, safe, sanitary, comfortable and attractive environment both internally and externally. Assumes responsibility for professional duties in making our facility marketable from the environmental standpoint.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Preferably a high school degree.

Experience Have previously performed housekeeping duties and have knowledge of housekeeping techniques.

Abilities Sincere desire to work with the elderly, able to follow instructions well and cooperate with other employees. Physically healthy and capable of performing duties.

Personal Cleanliness, pleasant, tactful, courteous, mature personality.

FUNCTIONS:

• The appearance of our Home is very important. How the facility looks and smells on first impression is greatly the responsibility of the Housekeeping Department. Keeping the entryways attractive, common tidy and residential rooms clean is the primary function of this position.
• There will need to be periodic cleaning of windows inside and out when requested by residents. There will be some usage of a ladder to reach certain windows.
• Thorough cleaning of tables, chairs, and other furniture in your perspective area.
• Report any observed structural problems, equipment wear/defects to Supervisor.
• Maintains equipment used in performing duties.
• Attends scheduled in-service education programs and other requested seminars.
• Be current on regulations Infection Control, Safety Data Sheets, OSHA, etc.
• Strive for efficiency in work habits, use of supplies and performing quality work.
• Watering plants in residents rooms and cleaning such things as their apartment-size refrigerator might be required.
• Cleaning ceiling fans, floor fans, light fixtures are the responsibility of the housekeeper.
• Besides dusting, there will be vacuum cleaning, microfiber mopping, disinfecting, cleaning of bathroom fixtures, baseboards, etc.
• Keeping in tune to the details and concentrating on thorough cleaning is very important while at the same time honoring the residents rights.

PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

• Works up to 8 hours/day under an hourly wage and is expected to work beyond normal working hours when necessary. Some weekend hours are required.
• Sits, stands, and walks intermittently during work day and subject to inside environmental conditions.
• Subject to frequent interruptions.
• When lifting any object in excess of 40 pounds, will need the assistance of equipment or another person.
• Works with potentially infectious materials.
