Description
Position Summary
The Underwriting Assistant delivers administrative and customer service support to Underwriters, policyholders, and agent partners with efficiency and excellence.
Responsibilities
- Serve in a lead role, fostering strong professional relationships among Underwriting Assistants, Underwriters, internal service partners, and external clients to ensure effective collaboration.
- Provide insights to management for the refinement and establishment of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Serve as a recognized authority in support operations, providing expertise and guidance.
- Function as a lead trainer for new and less experienced Underwriting Assistants, contributing to their development and updating training materials to enhance the proficiency of the Underwriting support staff.
- Contribute actively to strategic decision-making processes as a member of the Underwriting Leadership Team, offering input and guidance on various initiatives.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Underwriting Department and other internal departments, facilitating seamless communication and coordination regarding Underwriting support matters.
- Execute all responsibilities with precision and within established timelines, consistently upholding departmental standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- One or more years of customer service and property and casualty experience in the worker’s compensation or general liability product lines
- Insurance (INS) and/or Pictorial course work completion
- Skill in interpersonal interactions, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external contacts; skill in customer service and problem-solving
- Skill in time management with the ability to multi-task effectively while paying attention to detail
- Proficient in both verbal and written communication with the ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and function specific software applications
