What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator/Project Manager position at Builders Sales & Service Company?
Estimating Responsibilities:
· Project Evaluation: Review project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
· Quantity Takeoff: Calculate quantities of materials required for gypsum board assemblies, including studs, insulation, drywall sheets, joint compound, screws, and other necessary supplies.
· Cost Estimation: Utilize pricing databases, historical data, and market knowledge to determine the cost of materials, labor, and equipment needed for each project.
· Labor Analysis: Assess the labor requirements for each project, considering factors such as project size, complexity, scheduling constraints and accessibility.
· Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability of materials and services needed for the project.
· Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for prospective projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
· Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or safety standards.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bids, and related documentation.
· Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to clarify project requirements, address concerns, and provide recommendations as needed.
· Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, new materials, and construction techniques to enhance estimating processes and accuracy.
Project Management:
· Prepare detailed product submittals for architectural review.
· Prepare shop drawings and detailed collaboration for product procurement.
· Define project scope with General Contractors & other Subcontractors.
· Develop detailed project plans, schedules and budgets, and track project progress against these plans.
· Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path activities.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
· Proven experience as a Drywall Estimator or similar role in the construction industry.
· Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
· Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
