What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paint Sales - Full-time position at Builders Warehouse?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides the highest level possible of service to all customers.
Maintains appropriate business contact with customers and employees in person and on the telephone.
Orders merchandise to maintain appropriate stock.
Answers telephone inquiries pleasantly and promptly.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge on products in designated areas – uses of the product, how they work, proper installation, product pricing, and new products on the market.
Maintains knowledge of vendors, vendor books, and discount structure from certain vendors.
Provides customers with information on additional items related to product purchases.
Assists in stocking and downstocking merchandise in assigned aisles plus helping other team members.
Assist the customer in finding the correct product for their needs.
Follows up on notes and customer information concerns.
Listens and handles customer complaints in order to satisfy the customer – seek management when necessary.
Orders special purchase orders and rainchecks and directs the customer to the location of their order if it is in the Drive Thru building or gets the customers order from Receiving when they come in to pick it up.
Assists in other departments, if needed.
Assists in putting away paint when shipment arrives.
Must learn to use the colorant machine and the paint mixer to mix and match paint colors.
Complies with procedures on sale transactions, special purchase orders, paperwork, returns, credit memos, defective merchandise, etc.
Maintains housekeeping of designated areas.
Assists with carry-outs inside the building.
Merchandises side counters and end caps and advertising promotions in designated areas.
Communicate product problems in your area concerning supply, quality, or new items that we need to stock to the Sales Manager or Department Leadperson.
Restocks merchandise returns as needed.
Records special purchase orders, deliveries, inventory conditions, etc.
Maintains and promotes a safe working environment and follows all safety rules.
Be a mentor – Train and help new team sales members to adapt and succeed as a Builders salesperson.
Promotes team building concept.
Complies with all company policies and procedures.

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Experience: 3 to 6 months of retail sales experience and/or training is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Ability to communicate with customers, other employees, and managers using verbal and written skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use other math skills as related to position.
Ability to use a tape measure.
Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
Ability to operate a computer and calculator.
Ability to distinguish between colors – must have good eye color coordination and cannot be colorblind in order to match paint colors correctly.
Good interpersonal, communication, sales, and customer service skills.
Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
Physical Requirements:Ability to stand/walk for 4 hours minimum and 10 hours maximum.
Ability to climb, bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead to grasp materials.
Regularly lift and/or move 20 lbs. Occasionally lift and/or move 60 lbs.
