What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Skill Building Counselor position at Building Better Lives Community Serices, LLC?
The QMHP-A/T works directly with Mental Health Skill Building participants in a structured environment or community setting to develop social and psychological treatment plans aimed at cultivating new interests, self-confidence, and interpersonal relationship skills. This position is expected to perform several tasks including assessing client needs and providing access to the appropriate services including treatment, rehabilitation, and other related service linkages, monitors cases for progress, and acts as an advocate for the client. The QMHP-A will work closely with other professional team members to ensure a concentrated, efficient, and timely approach to stabilizing individuals and preparing for a more manageable return to their normal life activity. Leadership, professionalism, creativity, multitasker, ethical character, humility, efficient written and oral skills, favorable team approach, organization skills, accountability and a keen knowledge of common mental health diagnoses and progressive treatment methods are all attributes which will be essential for the QMHP-A position. The completion of professional documentation to include individual/group session notes and treatment summaries will be critical to this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized service plans in conjunction with referring agencies, and other social professionals with measurable goals and objectives
- Review referrals to determine the appropriate course of action
- Prepare client progress reports as required by DMAS and Medicaid guidelines
- Develop and implement comprehensive discharge plans
- Coordinate, prepare, and maintain all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
- Complete intake assessment under the direction of the clinical supervisor and management group
- Develops community resources to support individuals in attaining services such as housing, additional mental health care, psychiatric medication, medical resources, financial assistance, legal advocacy, etc.; empowers clients by educating them on how to seek and utilize these services
- Participate in debrief sessions, weekly supervision, agency-wide and other meetings, training, and development opportunities as determined appropriate by the supervisor
- Participate in clinical supervision sessions on a weekly to biweekly basis
- Adhere to all client confidentiality requirements and standards
- Transportation of clients if necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
**MUST HAVE MENTAL HEALTH SKILL BUILDING EXPERIENCE** This individual must have a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or Special Education with at least 1 year of experience working with adults with mental, emotional or behavioral difficulty or diagnosis. Fulfillment of the QMHP-A/T status as required by the Board of Counseling/Dept of Health Professions is required. They must demonstrate creative, patient, innovative, out-going character and it is preferred that they have some knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, or Crisis Stabilization services. This individual must have knowledge of various DSM V diagnoses, treatment plan development and current trends in treating various mental, emotional, and behavioral health conditions in adults.
Licensure:
- Current QMHP-A/T Registration with VADHP
- Complete a criminal background check/ CPS Central Registry check
- Tuberculosis screening
- Valid state driver’s license and current auto insurance
- CPR/First Aid Training Certification and Crisis Wave training (within 15 days of employment)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
