A Brief Overview
A caring and enthusiastic Teacher I that is the supporting role of the Assistant Teacher to work with children 2-5 years old. This role works alongside the Teacher II (Lead Teacher) to create a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment that fosters social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth in young children. Success in this role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as you assist in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, and classroom activities. Assisting in all areas of children's health and safety, while helping mange the classroom, support individual learning styles, and build positive relationships with children co-workers, children and families. The ability to observe, adapt, and contribute to the creating of a warm, positive learning environment is essential. Patients, flexibility, proactivity and passion are essential for working with young child in early childhood education.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, toilet training, changing diapers, and cleaning rooms and toys.
- Develop and encourage age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn.
- Maintain a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
- Develop lesson plans and themes according to the guidelines set out in the Creative Curriculum.
- Complete all annual training for SVH and required training for KDHE and additional training that support developmentally appropriate practice and best practices.
- Communicate with parents and other teachers regarding feeding, medications, and other critical concerns.
- Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Preferred
- Working with infants and young children. Preferred
- Experience handling groups of individuals. Preferred
- Experience in teaching or education, infant to 3rd grade. Preferred
- Experience with social emotional learning and training that support pro social learning. Preferred
- Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
- Successfully pass a KBI background check is required.
