What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Summer Camp Counselor position at Building Connections Behavioral Health?
Job Summary:
Building Connections Behavioral Health Inc. is a provider of Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, or ABA, to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We are currently looking for 5 high school students (16 ) to join our team as Junior Summer Camp Counselors. This is a temporary summer position from July to August, with working hours from 9am to 3pm in Walnut Creek.
Responsibilities:
-Aide in teaching communication skills, social skills, self-help skills, and play skills through Applied Behavior Analysis principles
-Quickly and accurately communicate problems/concerns with appropriate staff
-Play games, have fun, and watch the kids progress firsthand
-Help clean up and maintain the camp area
- Assist children with daily activities such as crafts, games, and sports
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Participate in camp activities and games with the children
- Communicate effectively with the Behavior Therapist and other staff members
-Assist with the implementation of activities and programs
-Supervise campers and ensure their safety, well-being, and adherence to camp rules and behavioral expectations
-Assist campers with daily living activities, including eating, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed
-Provide support to camp counselors and therapists as needed
-Help prepare and serve meals, clean up dining areas, and maintain a clean and sanitary camp environment
-Participate in recreational and educational activities with campers, such as sports, games, arts and crafts, and nature exploration.
-Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as required.
-Follow all camp policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, safety, and emergency protocols.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
-Provide a doctor's release to work as well as proof of receiving the following vaccinations: Covid-19 (two-dose, with booster when applicable), MMR, Hep. B, Varicella, and TDAP
-Negative TB test within the last 2 years
- Must be able to pass a background check
-Preferred: Experience working with children 0-16
