The Business Development Representative is responsible for calling on contractors, builders and architects within an assigned territory to facilitate the sale of building products, forest products and construction services. In addition, this position is responsible for providing specialized knowledge and support to the outside sales team and their dealers by building customer loyalty to grow business in support of the Company’s overall budget, strategies and goals. The Business Development Representative also works closely with Inside Sales, Purchasing, Marketing and other departments along with suppliers to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met and in support of the Company’s sales and marketing strategies and objectives.
This position is remote in Southern California.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead and implement strategic actions to maximize sales and gross margin dollars related to specific products and services.
- Schedule appointments and travel to accounts in order to develop relationships, understand business issues, sell products, services and Company programs
- Educate accounts about the Company’s value proposition to drive loyalty, satisfaction, and sales
- Act as a liaison between the Company, the non-dealer and dealer and to close opportunities, resolve product, inventory and other issues
- Educate customers and Company employees by conducting sales presentations and product knowledge training
- Assists contractors and builders with training on installation of products and services offered by BMD
- Research and develop lists of potential accounts, follow-up on leads and secure commitment for sale of products and services
- Work closely with the sales team to coordinate coverage and provide training specific to dealers and gain access to our customer’s contacts
- Interface with manufacturers and their representatives to gain support and make joint presentations and sales calls
- Sell under established Company guidelines including; margin, suppliers, delivery/freight, and other criteria
- Determine merchandising, marketing and program needs in collaboration with Marketing. Coordinate display placements and POS to support the out-of-warehouse business. Develop and launch Pardot campaigns and promotions.
- Utilize CRM to maintain a database of customers and projects, record activities and other relevant information, manage accounts and develop opportunities
- Communicate sales and product opportunities to supervisor along with current customer, competitor and market information. Complete and submit required reports to supervisor.
- Work closely with Purchasing to forecast sales and inventory needs to support expansion in the channel and provide market information
- Identify and evaluate new products and services that expand BMD’s value inside and outside of our dealers
- Maintain current knowledge of products, including technical information and specifications, building code issues and revisions, the competition and market conditions
- Coordinate vendor participation and represent the Company and actively participate at contractor, industry and promotional events, home shows, and in relevant professional and trade organizations
- Attend product trainings, and sales and other Company meetings
- Perform additional duties as required and requested.
