What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales Rep ( Residential) position at Building Material Distributors, Inc.?
Essential Functions
1. Generate new business by building strategic and positive customer relationships and maintain a
network of sources from which to identify new sales leads.
2. Achieve sales targets and gross margin goals while positioning the business for continued growth.
3. Attend industry trade shows to identify potential sales leads. Make meaningful contact with existing customers.
4. Provide a superior customer experience – create trust, follow through/ see issues through to resolution post-sale.
5. Know, demonstrate, educate, and promote the features and benefits of products and services to customers based on their needs.
6. Plans, organizes, and communicates personal sales strategy focused on new business generation. Provide regular territory sales forecasts and recommend prospects and other opportunities that generate revenue.
7. Maintain customer records in the customer relationship management software (CRM) and complete all sales related tasks to include providing detailed reports of sales activities, including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems. Report on trends.
8. Collaborate and coordinate with cabinet designers, warehouse and delivery staff, and other departments and employees to effectively service customers.
9. Know all product features and benefits. Maintain expert level knowledge of products and services, including technical information, specifications, and delivery and installation practices and techniques.
10. Know the latest industry developments and market trends by attending industry trade shows, team meetings, and training workshops, and leveraging other resources to anticipate customer needs.
11. Assist in the development of brochures and other sales materials.
12. Perform additional duties as required and requested
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five years’ sales experience in millwork wholesale distribution or a related industry such as building products, interior design, home improvement, or other similar industries.
- Proven work history of being dependable, securing new customer relationships, and achieving sales goals.
