About Us: Building One Community (“B1C”) is a non-profit organization established in 2011 as a comprehensive resource center for immigrants in the Stamford, Connecticut area. B1C’s mission is to advance the successful integration of immigrants and their families.
Springboard Collaborative bridges the literacy gap by uniting home and school, coaching educators and families to help children read proficiently by 4th grade, with a vision of ensuring all children have the literacy skills needed for life opportunities. As part of this mission, Springboard Teachers lead Family-Educator Learning Accelerators, partnering with students and families to promote literacy growth. Reporting to B1C’s Springboard Program Leader, the Springboard Teacher will serve as an independent contractor within B1C’s Springboard program, working to support families and help students achieve accelerated reading progress.
Position summary: We seek a Springboard Teacher to help us foster literacy growth from mid-December 2024 through December 2025. This position runs from mid-December 2024 through December 2025 and requires a commitment of 1.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, with on-site instruction from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Some additional time outside these hours will be needed to prepare materials, professional development, weekly meetings with Program Leader or family workshops on-site.
Essential Duties:
- Attend all required pre-programming teacher PD and weekly staff PLCs (led by your Program Leader)
- Administer beginning and ending assessments
- Conduct team-building huddles with each of your families (pre-program 1:1 family meeting)
- Prepare for and lead student instruction
- Prepare for and facilitate family workshops
- Input program data into Connect database
- Facilitate end of program celebration
- Weekly family communication
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Stamford Public School teacher preferred
- Teaching experience required
- Lesson planning, classroom/behavior management, data entry experience (Springboard will train for program specific software)
- Public speaking (will facilitate parent education workshops)
- Must be available to be on-site Monday through Thursday for instruction and set-up.
- Strong verbal/written communication
- Proven ability to work both independently and in a team setting
- Strong commitment to B1C’s mission
- The Springboard Program Leader will perform work as an independent contractor of Building One Community for the duration of this program
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $46.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 per week
