What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copywriter (Marketing) position at BuildWitt?
BuildWitt is on a mission:
BuildWitt exists to better the Dirt World (those who build and maintain society's essential infrastructure) by helping companies attract, train, and retain great people.
We do this through our ecosystem of offerings, which includes:
- BuildWitt Training: a custom-built software product (LMS) with more than 1,000 industry-specific training videos to help companies in the Dirt World create more productive and safer crews.
- BuildWitt Creative: a full-service branding, marketing, web, and media agency that helps Dirt World companies grow their business with customized creative and marketing services.
- Dirt Word Summit: an annual 1,200 person event, hosted by BuildWitt, which brings our industry leaders together to network, share ideas, and be inspired.
- BuildWitt Connect: a private membership platform where a peer group of growth-minded construction professionals can access expert-led coaching, resources, and events.
As a team, we’re a close-knit, high-performing group that holds ourselves to a high standard and lives by our values. We take our mission and work seriously, but not so much ourselves—one of our values is Lighten Up. We have a collaborative culture that supports one another and embraces personal growth and ownership.
How you will help us do that in this role:
Your mission as Copywriter on the BuildWitt Marketing team—should you choose to accept it—is to craft authentic and compelling messaging across our marketing efforts in a way that builds trust with customers and drives demand for our offerings.
Your work will serve as the voice of BuildWitt, helping to tell our story in a way that makes our customers the heroes. Your primary objectives are as follows:
- Craft and deliver compelling copy for several marketing deliverables each week, including, but not limited to, website content, email nurture campaigns, blog articles, social media content, sales enablement materials, and campaign-specific content such as media scripts for new product launches.
- Collaborate with the larger marketing team to develop effective inbound content marketing strategies that will ultimately help BuildWitt double revenue across our offerings, particularly our B2B SaaS Training product, within the next 2 years.
- Help further define and fiercely uphold BuildWitt's brand voice and tone, ensuring that we make our customers the heroes (one of our values is “We’re the Stagehands, Not the Stars”), and we don’t forget to have a little fun along the way.
- For reference, we’re big fans of decked.com’s voice, and here is an example of BuildWitt’s sense of humor for an internal video.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, write, edit, and proofread a wide range of copy for BuildWitt’s inbound and outbound marketing efforts.
- Use AI tools to streamline content creation, conduct A/B testing, and gather insights, while ensuring content remains engaging and authentic.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and creative meetings, contributing ideas and concepts for our marketing initiatives and content strategy.
- Collaborate with product marketers, designers, art directors, and video production teams to produce cohesive, visually integrated content that ensures brand consistency across multiple mediums.
- Stay current on client industries, target audiences, and competitors to serve as a subject matter expert. Tangibly, this could look like shadowing sales demos and watching our BuildWitt Training content.
- Present, explain, and defend copy concepts to internal teams and leadership.
- Develop user-focused web content and SEO-informed copy for websites and landing pages.
Requirements/Hard Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field and/or equivalent experience and technical training

- Solid understanding of SEO best practices and trends, especially in relation to AI
- Bonus points if you’re familiar with They Ask, You Answer
Soft Skills/Attributes:
