Part Time Micro Lab Technician

BUILT is searching for an experienced Lab Technician to work with a lab team of scientists and support daily testing operations. Our ideal candidate will be willing to learn about new technologies and seek out ways to improve our current processes while also maintaining internal and regulatory requirements for accuracy and integrity.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The laboratory Technician must be able to execute all necessary functions toward completing:
- Daily tests of finished good products to ensure material is within specified parameters before being shipped out to consumers.
- Weekly tests on environmental samples (swabs and/or water).
These functions include:
- Collecting, testing, processing, labelling and processing samples using appropriate equipment
- Recording observations and interpreting findings in conformity to standard testing procedures
- Recording test results and experimental data accurately in electronic or written format
- Maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment according to environmental and health standards
- Arranging and storing compressed gases, chemical substances and fluids according to the safety instructions
- Calculating and reporting test results to the Team Leader
- Willing to work Wednesday through Sunday, 4 hours a day in the mornings - shift time is flexible.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Strong Attention to detail
- Knowledge of laboratory instruments and good laboratory practice (GLP).
- Proficient with Technology (Computers)
- Ability to effectively prioritize and organize sample workload
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a micro lab
- Working knowledge of microbiological principles such as PCR, media prep, aseptic sampling, enrichment, and organism identification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office tools like Excel, Outlook, and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
- College degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or another similar field preferred
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practice preferred but not required
- Strong data analysis skills with understanding of basic statistical principles
- Prior experience with HACCP, FSMA, and ISO 9000 & 9001 is beneficial but not required
- Experience with ISO 17025 standards and expectations
This role will be part time, morning hours (4 hours per day). The shift times can be flexible. This role will be working Wednesday through Sunday. This cannot be a remote role.
