Built Bar is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager with proven experience in QA, preferably with food manufacturing. Our ideal candidate will ensure consistent quality of production by refining and enforcing current good manufacturing practices (GMPs); validating processes; providing documentation; and managing a growing staff.
The QA Manager is responsible for leading the quality assurance team and ensuring that all food safety, quality, and regulatory standards are met. This role oversees adherence to a variety of programs and regulations such as SQF, FSQ, UDAF, RSPO, GFCO, and others. The QA Manager is also responsible for collaborating closely with other departments such as production, maintenance, sanitation, scheduling, and R&D.
What you will do:
- Own the food safety plan and see that it is implemented, supported, and maintained in a way that supports the growth of the business while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
- Lead a growing team of QA technicians and regulatory specialists and provide training, coaching, and prompt feedback on performance.
- Prepare facility and teams for any scheduled or unannounced audit and lead internal audit activities to test system and program effectiveness.
- Maintain and improve the document control system for technical, instructional, and other food safety documents.
- Monitor production processes to ensure that the highest standards of quality and safety are being met.
- Investigate and address customer complaints and collaborate cross functionally to ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken.
- Work closely with R&D and the production team during plant trials and new product launches.
- Oversee QA data collection and support the transition to a paperless quality program.
- Prepare reports as they relate to quality trends, key performance indicators, customer complaints, and relevant capital projects.
- Support employee training on food safety programs.
- Work with external vendors and purchase supplies for the QA team as needed.
- Conduct risk assessments and root cause investigations to validate and verify that programs are operating as intended and support implementing corrective actions.
- Communicate information and decisions as they relate to performance, personnel, and products.
What you need:
- Bachelor of Science in a related field. Preferably, Food Science, Education, Business, or Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in a leadership or manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of food safety regulations and standards (i.e. HACCP, PCQI, SQF, ISO, and FDA).
- Certifications with relevant regulations and standards are a strong advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of digital software and reporting systems (i.e. MS Office, NetSuite).
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Curious, reliable, and flexible.
- English and Spanish fluency are preferred.
