JOB SUMMARY:

The Corporate Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing various financial aspects within the business. The role encompasses corporate accounting, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal control policies. This position works independently and reports to the CFO.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the accounting department, handling month-end closing processes, reconciliations, and providing insights and recommendations.

• Work closely with finance, operations, and sales leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals.

• Post and process journal entries, record financial transactions, and identify and resolve discrepancies.

• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.

• Research technical accounting issues for compliance.

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.

• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

• Collaborate with external accountants, legal counsel, and lenders.

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 years of proven experience as a Financial Controller or Assistant Controller.

• Worked in organizations with gross annual revenues exceeding $100M

• Public Accounting /Audit experience preferred

• Bachelor's degree in accounting. Advanced degree in accounting preferred (MBA/CPA).

• Proficiency in accounting software and general ledger functions.

• Experience with NetSuite or equivalent ERP a plus.

• Experience within the trucking/logistics industry is highly preferred.

Physical Demands

This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching, and other motions in the course of a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear.

Working Conditions

This job is located primarily in an indoor office environment and it is expected to report to the office during the core business hours from Monday to Friday. This positions reports in person to the company’s headquarters in Miami, FL.
