Position Overview
- We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals for our M&A Associate Internship program. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of mergers and acquisitions, working closely with senior professionals on active deals. Interns will develop financial analysis, valuation, and deal execution skills while gaining exposure to client interactions and negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
Buyer Identification & Research
- Conduct in-depth research to identify private equity firms, family offices, and corporate acquirers that align with active sell-side engagements
- Build and maintain a database of potential buyers, tracking investment criteria, industry focus, and past acquisitions
- Monitor private equity deal flow, fundraising activity, and portfolio company acquisitions to identify potential buyers for target businesses
Strategic Outreach & Relationship Management
- Develop targeted outreach strategies to engage buyers, leveraging email campaigns, LinkedIn, and other professional networking tools
- Manage and track communication with investors and acquirers, ensuring timely follow-ups and relationship-building efforts
- Work alongside senior M&A advisors to structure buyer conversations and articulate value propositions for businesses on the market
Market & Industry Analysis
- Analyze industry trends, M&A activity, and market dynamics to help position businesses effectively to potential buyers
- Support deal teams in crafting positioning strategies that highlight synergies between sellers and potential acquirers
- Research emerging sectors and investment trends to anticipate buyer interest and proactively source acquisition opportunities
Marketing & Presentation Development
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials, such as pitch decks and investment memos, to present businesses to buyers
- Contribute to deal teasers and confidential information memorandums (CIMs) to support buyer engagement efforts
- Work with the marketing team to refine messaging and branding for outreach campaigns
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Track and manage buyer interactions using CRM software (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce), ensuring accurate data entry and reporting
- Analyze outreach effectiveness, reporting on key metrics such as response rates, engagement levels, and buyer feedback
- Assist in refining workflows and optimizing business development processes to improve overall efficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
· Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
· Strong interest in private equity, mergers & acquisitions, and investment strategy
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in reaching out to senior-level professionals
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce) is a plus
· Experience in sales, business development, or financial research
· Familiarity with financial modeling, valuation techniques, or investment analysis
· Prior exposure to private equity investment criteria and acquisition strategies
