What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Bulldog Gaskets & Engine Parts, LLC?
The Buyer works as a member of the purchasing department to ensure a continuous supply of needed materials, supplies, and services at the minimum inventory investment by reviewing purchasing requisitions, expedite purchase orders, obtain quotes and maintain purchasing records. The buyer is also responsible for supplier development and quality vs pricing vs availability purchased products trade off.
Responsibilities:
· Purchases Production and non-production material/services.
· Manages all open purchase orders to ensure accuracy and proper inventory levels.
· Negotiates vendors’ pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantity and lead times to achieve the best buying compromise and optimizes inventory value.
· Expedites purchase orders, maintains expected delivery dates, and follows up on back orders.
· Maintain current supply base by identifying and including optimum number of suppliers conducting vendor site visits and preparing vendor evaluation.
· Actively seeks out and advises management of ways to continuously improve the quality of the process or methods employed in the day-to-day activities of the position, department or company and participate in their implementation.
· Participate in new product launch including sourcing of new materials and the search for new suppliers in collaboration with the Engineering team.
· Initiate and maintain good supplier relations; involve engineering for discussion and approval of alternative methods or materials if delivery is not available when required.
· Initiate and follow through with on-going cost reduction efforts.
· Work collaboratively with other internal departments.
· Complete special assignments as required. Take ownership of the buying process and of other tasks as appropriate.
Requirements:
· Minimum 3-5 years buying experience in a Supply Chain fast pace environment with strong knowledge of ERP and MRP systems and excellent ability to manage Domestic and Overseas suppliers.
· Strong proficiency of Excel and MS office, with extensive spreadsheet analysis.
· Excellent written, verbal, analytical, negotiating and interpersonal skills.
· Excellent organization skills and able to prioritize work, carry out assignments, and meet deadlines with moderate supervision.
· Excellent Team Player.
· IFS software system knowledge a PLUS.
· Spare Parts market with Engine Parts and Hydraulics seal components knowledge a PLUS.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
