Range Safety Officer / Sales Associate

General Description / Purpose
Range Safety Officer / Office Sales Associate
- Ensures range safety for all customers, employees, and surrounding properties from activities taking place on the premises.
- Ensures all Range Safety Rules are followed by everyone on the facilities and always follows all Range Safety Rules.
- Maintains a professional presence on the range and in the office at all times.
- Maintains cleanliness, minor repairs, and organization of shooting ranges and facilities.
- Assists customers with basic firearm safety to ensure a safe environment at all times.
- Assists customers with range check-in including selling ammunition, renting and selling firearms, assigning lanes, and processing cash register transactions.
Facility Hours
Monday - Friday: 10:00am - 8:00pm
Saturday - Sunday: 8:00am - 8:00pm
Summer Hours: Monday - Sunday 8:00am - 8:00pm
Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
- All Full-Time RSOs/Sales Associates are scheduled to work weekends. This full-time position is typically scheduled to work 4-5 days on and 2 consecutive days off.
- Opening shifts may be required to begin their shift up to 15 minutes prior to open and closing shifts may be required to work no more then 15 minutes after close.
- Occasionally works after hour shifts to accommodate special circumstances, such as physical inventory, special events, or restocking may be occasionally assigned at the discretion of management.
- Schedule may vary from week to week in the best interest of the company.
- Hourly Full‐time Non‐Exempt position estimated at 30‐40 hours per week.
- Occasional overtime for special events held at the facility with pre‐approval from owners.
Primary Responsibilities
- The Range Safety Officer’s primary role is to ensure safety on the range by observing all users, enforcing all the Range Safety Rules, and respectfully, but immediately ceasing any behavior that could be considered unsafe or result in injury or property damage.
- The Range Safety Officer is not authorized to act as a Firearms Instructor.
- Must be observant and possess the ability to make quick accurate decisions.
- Must be knowledgeable in the Shooting Range industry’s standard Firearm Safety Practices.
- When assigned, works part or all of shift at range counter. Must be able to accurately use a cash register (POS system) and possess strong customer service skills including selling firearms and other accessories.
- Assist in opening & closing of range duties.
- Knowledge of company’s mission, purpose, and goals.
- Ability to operate retail equipment ‐‐ cash registers, inventory scanners, telephones, radio communications and range equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of the facilities security policy and procedures.
- Ability to operate, demonstrate and explain merchandise ‐‐ Understand and be proficient in restricted and non‐restricted sales, refunds/returns, Consignment sales, Gift Cards, Member and Non‐Member's use of the facilities.
- Stay current on product knowledge, general firearms laws and safety procedures.
- Understand and be proficient in firearms sales and forms as required by Federal, State andLocal laws; ATF Form 4473, Multiple Handgun Sale (MHS) Form, Multiple Rifles sale, NFA items, Call procedures and Response Implications.
- Knowledge of gun rentals, range equipment, use of heavy machinery.
- Knowledge of all rental guns and the ability to demonstrate their operation to customers while supervising the gun rental.
- Dress appropriately for position adhering to facility dress code.
- Conduct regular cleaning and maintenance of ranges, bathrooms and office.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Training on the facility’s practices is provided.
Essential Knowledge and Education
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. High school diploma or equivalent.
- Law enforcement, military, security officer, or shooting range experience is a plus.
- Range safety officer certification from an accredited organization such as NRA, preferred.
- 1 Year Retail experience.
- Self‐motivated & exceptional organizational skills.
- Must be able to multitask.
- Great Customer Service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and telephone protocol.
- Complete an annual shooting qualification.
- Ability to legally obtain a Texas License to Carry a Handgun within the 90‐day probationary period.
- High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information.
- Must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must maintain a valid Texas License to Carry a Handgun and receive written authorization from owner after completion of probationary period in order to carry a firearm.
Physical Job Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.
- Must be able to physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, carry and move items up to 65 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Ability to distinguish color to perform job functions.
- Must have the ability to hear and respond appropriately to shooting commands and facility activities.
This position reports to the Range Owners and Assistant Managers. Additional duties may be assigned and this job description may change without notice at the discretion of the owners.
