STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Performs a variety of general cleaning and janitorial work to keep assigned areas and City facilities in a clean and orderly condition.
This is a part time, non-benefited position with a 29-hour work week maximum.
- This position will be assigned to Facilities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/LICENSING & TRAINING
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
LICENSING & TRAINING:
- Valid State Driver's License
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) training based on assignment.
- Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Performs a variety of cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing of floors and carpets.
- Cleans hallways, restrooms, lobbies, disinfects restrooms, offices, ceilings, walls, windows, blinds, light fixtures, drinking fountains, mirrors, sink fixtures, and tables.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
- Polishes metal work, waxes and polishes furniture and woodwork.
- Cleans various spills around City facilities. Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers and other equipment and machinery.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment.
- Requests and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Inspects and maintains assigned custodial equipment and small tools used in the course of work for proper operating condition.
- Replaces light bulbs and tubes.
- Open and closes facilities, turns lights on and/or off, locks doors and windows as needed.
- Performs some basic repairs to buildings and associated equipment both interior and exterior.
- Makes basic needed repairs to building systems and equipment.
- Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
- Performs related work as required.

- Learn job related material primarily through oral instructions and observations.

The employee works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to extremely hot weather, wet and/or humid conditions, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
