Description
Bullis School seeks a Lower School Assistant Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community starting in the 2025-26 academic year. Assistant Teachers work closely with Kindergarten and First-grade homeroom teachers in various ways to facilitate and maintain a healthy, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Strong candidates will be highly collaborative and demonstrate a commitment to facilitating a learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers starting out in the field, working on advanced degrees, or wishing to participate fully in the school day with few demands outside of school. Lower School Assistant Teachers will support the K-1 homeroom teachers to create the conditions for discovery both inside and outside of the classroom by supporting and encouraging students to take risks, collaborate, and explore. Inside the classroom, the Assistant Teachers may lead one-on-one small group instruction - listening while students read, reviewing or reinforcing class lessons, or helping them find information for assignments. They will help the homeroom teacher prepare lesson materials, stock supplies, and set up classroom equipment. They will assist with transitions and supervise students on the playground and in the hallway. Successful Lower School Assistant Teachers are committed to building positive relationships with students and use positive behavior reinforcement and developmentally appropriate guidance strategies to encourage appropriate behavior.
Working at Bullis means being a part of a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development. We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits that make it an ideal place to build a thriving career.
