Special Education Instructional Assistant (EBD) 2025-2026-Pleasant Grove Elementary

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.

Pleasant Grove Elementary is searching for a highly motivated and positive team member to assist certified teacher(s) in providing instruction to groups of students, monitor and report student progress, and enhance overall student performance. Experience working with students, intervention systems, and small groups are appreciated but not a requirement.

This position will provide assistance for students with special needs, particularly emotional and behavioral needs in accordance with district regulations and state law. Candidate must be able to attend training for the position. Candidate must meet all qualifications necessary to be hired for the position as instructional assistant.

The position is 6.5 hours per day and 183 days per year.

170 student instructional days, 4 paid holidays, 7 planning days, 2 extended days

Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date.

• Must have 48 semester hours, an Associates Degree or have a high school diploma or equivalent and have passed the paraeducator exam and provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.
  
  

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)

Salary will be based on the 2025-2026 salary schedule once the Board approves.

2024-2025 Payscale

Step 0: $15.59 per hour

Step 10: $19.19 per hour

Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks. This position is considered a ten month employee on the pay schedule. 4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
