TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months (240 days)
SALARY: Based on Bulloch County Schools salary/supplement schedule

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides various degrees of administrative support, functions and tasks to the Director of Transportation and Transportation Department. This position is the first line contact for walk-in traffic and phone calls to the Transportation Department, as well as visitors and stakeholders at the Simons Road Bus Garage.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma/GED.
- Experience in a secretarial/clerical position.
- Experience and ability to work with computers and technology (i.e. Microsoft Office, Excel, Gmail, Google Drive, etc.).
- Experience working with a diverse group of people.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with K-12 transportation clerical functions and/or general understanding of the transportation department function.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares general correspondences (memos, letters, etc.).
- Makes travel arrangements.
- Interprets school system policies, rules and regulations, as needed.
- Operates and maintains office equipment.
- Provides direction to callers and announces arrival of visitors to appropriate personnel.
- Routes complaints from the public or school administration to appropriate personnel.
- Files various forms of paperwork and maintains transportation documents, electronically.
- Acts as a dispatcher for the transportation radio.
- Answers multiple phone lines.
- Assist with drug testing, (random, pre-employment and post-accident).
- Schedules pre-employment and yearly driver physicals.
- Obtains driver MVRs (bi-yearly and new hires).
- Maintains records for state reporting.
- Communicates with school administration concerning daily route changes.
- Performs other duties as requested.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated supervisor in accordance with Policy GBI - Evaluation of Personnel.
