Overview
The Insurance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office by managing insurance-related tasks and facilitating communication between patients, insurance companies, and dental providers. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of dental terminology and coding practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage, processing claims, and maintaining accurate dental records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Process and submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies with insurance providers.
- Maintain organized dental records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and any out-of-pocket costs.
- Collaborate with dental staff to ensure proper coding using CDT systems.
- Manage dental contracts contracts and ensure compliance with their requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding practices, and regulations.
Skills
- Previous experience in a dental office is required.
- Previous experience with Eaglesoft software and dental websites is required.
- Proficiency in dental terminology and coding practices (CPT).
- Knowledge of the credentialing process and negotiating fees.
- Experience in collection processes, claim appeals is required.
- Experience in insurance payment posting and Coordination of Benefit rules is required.
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize duties and problem solve.
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification processes, claims processing and electronic attachments is required.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and insurance representatives.
- Proficient in using office software for documentation and record management.
- Other duties as assigned.
