Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lactation Consultant to join our team. As a Lactation Consultant, you will provide expert guidance and support to new mothers in breastfeeding and lactation. Your role will be crucial in promoting and supporting successful breastfeeding experiences for mothers and their infants.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of breastfeeding mothers and infants
- Provide one-on-one consultations to address breastfeeding challenges and provide appropriate interventions
- Educate mothers on proper breastfeeding techniques, positioning, and latch
- Assist with breast pump usage and provide guidance on milk expression and storage
- Develop individualized care plans for each mother-infant dyad
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for mothers and infants
- Conduct group education sessions on breastfeeding benefits and techniques
- Maintain accurate documentation of consultations, assessments, and interventions
- Stay updated on current research, trends, and best practices in lactation support
Requirements:
- Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to lactation and breastfeeding
- Ability to provide case management services to ensure continuity of care for clients
