Summary :

A Design Manager is responsible for assisting the Head of Design in maintaining design intent at all existing Bunkhouse properties, the planning and execution of Capital Expenditure projects and purchases at properties, overseeing FF&E at new properties post hotel design / opening. In addition to assisting the Head of Design with various tasks, the Design Manager is also responsible for keeping the design department organized, managing vendors, purchasing, and ordering & returning samples.The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. Furthermore, a Design Manager has the responsibility of developing and maintaining the hotel’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

MS, BFA or BS in interior design or architecture with excellent design skills preferred, but not requiredTwo (2) years related experience in hospitality design industry or architecture / interior designMust have direct experience in managing multiple projects, clients, and / or complex consultant relationshipsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staffAbility to create documents in Excel and WordAbility to understand other computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Design, Mac programs, InDesign, Autocad, Sketch Up, BIM, and BlueBeam)Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Rendering skills for interior elevations, plans, finishes and furnitureBunkhouse is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity. Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instructionEstablish and maintain liaison as required with all properties, committees, and employeesReview and assess vendor proposalsDirect the activities of on-site and off-site consultantsAssist in preparing preliminary construction and FF&E estimates, bid requests, de-scope, and proposals for small projects at propertiesSupport the Head of Design and Director of Design in daily tasksCoordinate small projects for Bunkhouse propertiesMaintain materials library & resource catalogsMaintain project binders and foldersAssist Head of Design in project meeting schedules, agendas & minutesAssist Head of Design in project travel schedules & arrangementsAssist Head of Design with expense reportsResponsible for design boards and image researchResponsible for placing supply and sample ordersResponsible for presentationsOrganize the Bunkhouse digital photo library and maintaining presentation archivesResponsible for product and materials sourcingPurchase FF&E and OS&EAct as a liaison between vendors, properties, and Design DirectorMaintain project budgets & invoicesEnsure open lines of communication with staff, all departments and upper management at all times via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the company are metBased upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.Working Conditions / Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The person in this position may have to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and / or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day
