Monte Package Company, a division of Bunzl's Agricultural Segment, is seeking an Assistant Controller for our office in Riverside, MI. The Assistant Controller is part of our Finance team with a focus on reporting and internal controls. This position will partner with the Controller and General Manager to improve processes and accounting accuracies. Additional responsibilities include expense variance reviews, customer reporting, month-end journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the accounting close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, monthly and YTD variance and trend analysis of profit and loss / balance sheet accounts, including explanations of variances to budget and prior year
- Prepare month-end account reconciliations
- Assist / lead annual physical inventory counts at all locations
- Business partner with Controller, assisting with special projects and process improvements as needed
- Work with General Manager and Controller to support reporting needs within the organization
- Oversee AR / AP functions and serve as backup support for both as needed
- Maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure accuracy of financial data and safeguarding of company assets
- Coordination and preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
- Coordinate financial audits with independent auditors and internal auditors and assist corporate with other financial related regulatory audits
- Review, analyze, and monitor Bad Debt and Inventory Provision accruals
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Accounting / Finance experience; cost accounting a plus
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Excel and large spreadsheets
- Microsoft Dynamics, TM1, HFM, and Blackline knowledge is a plus
- Effectively communicate with management, internal and external customers
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems or resolve issues
- Strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to ensure that a high level of service and quality is maintained
- Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines
- Outstanding attention to detail, flexibility and creativity
- Persistence coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of shared information and/or assignments
- Minimal travel may be required
