BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Educational Interpreter facilitates communication between hearing and deaf and hard of hearing students, district staff and the public by providing manual and/or oral interpreting services and providing other assistance to the instructional program. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Verification of a score of a 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), or any of the National Certifications (National Association of the Deaf (NAD), Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
Graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree from an Interpreter Training Program or a degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in education of the deaf and hard of hearing or educational interpreting. Other equivalent combinations of directly related training or experience may be considered.
