Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, forty-hours per week. Anticipated project assignment of 6 months, with possibility of extension. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.
Compensation Range: $18-$19 an hour (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
Position Summary:
The Laboratory Support Technician will provide laboratory support for the client by assisting with various administrative and laboratory based tasks. This will include receiving and logging samples, assisting with inventory management, digitizing compliance paperwork, as well as preparing samples for analysis via cutting, grinding samples, and doing solvent extractions following a written protocol.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for pulling and preparing samples for testing
- Learn and update data systems according to protocols
- Clean, organize and maintain work area, glassware (e.g., refrigerators, freezers, and supply cabinets, as needed).
- Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies.
- Complies with all safety guidelines.
- Assist in administrative aspects of various departmental projects as directed.
- Sample inventory upkeep
- Use a grinder to prepare samples, requiring use of a respirator
- Weigh and extract samples using a written protocol
- Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the requirements of the company and client Quality System.
- Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
Skills & Proficiencies:
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly
- Must have good customer service skills- job is client facing and performed in client laboratory
- Must be proficient in basic programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients
- Organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with a chemistry laboratory environment
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, high level of engagement

Education and Experience:
- Degree requirement: Associate's Degree in a scientific field
- Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
